About the author
Martin Amis (1949-2023) was a famous contemporary English writer. He was born in 1949 to an Oxford literary family, the son of the famous novelist Kingsley Amis. Martin Ames, along with Ian McEwan and Julian Barnes, is known as the "Big Three" of British literature. In 1974, Amis won the Maugham Prize for Literature for her first novel, The Rachel Papers (1973), and was hailed as a "literary genius". Amis then rose to the top of the literary world with a series of stylistic works: "Money - The Death Letter" (1984) was included in Time magazine's "100 Best novels in the English Language"; Time's Arrow - The Nature of Crime (1991) and Yellow Dog (2003) were nominated for the Booker Prize. Martin Amis is deeply influenced by Kafka, Nabokov, Joyce and other masters in his creation. He integrates stream of consciousness, black humor and strong magic style in his realistic approach, and is described as "a literary master who writes with fascination potion".
