Content introduction
This book is a political history work that studies the development and evolution of the central system in the Sui and Tang Dynasties. The so-called central system refers to the organizational system and operating mechanism of the supreme power of the state. Taking the development and evolution of the "three-province system" in the Sui and Tang dynasties as a clue, this book systematically investigates the process of the establishment, development and reconstruction of the three-province system in the Sui and Tang Dynasties, as well as the specific operation mode of decision-making and administration, reflecting the overall development of the central system in the Sui and Tang Dynasties. After systematic review, the author points out that the central system changed greatly after the Middle Tang Dynasty. The "new three-head" system composed of Hanlin, Shumi and Zhongshu replaced the old central system composed of Zhongshu, Menxia and Shangshu, overturning the traditional understanding that the central system of the Tang Dynasty was always the system of three provinces. This book also reveals the close relationship between the evolution of central system and the political upheaval in the period of Wu Zetian, Xuanzong and the late Tang Dynasty, and is a masterpiece in the study of Sui and Tang system history.
