Content introduction
The book, which has been updated six times since its publication in 1953, contains all of Michelangelo's paintings, sculptures and architectural works, and provides an in-depth account of the life, creation and influence of the Renaissance master.
The more than 300 illustrations in the book, from the fledgling to the painstaking work of his later years, focus on Michelangelo's genius, and the enlarged partial drawings more intuitively show the vivid details of the paintings and sculptures. The text part not only objectively discusses Michelangelo's life, but also brings together the research literature and art criticism of his works by art historians over the years, including the controversy and analysis of the authenticity of individual works. Therefore, this book is not only an atlas of Michelangelo's works, but also a guide to the study of Michelangelo's art, suitable for art lovers to read, learn and collect.
