Content introduction
This book, Du Weiming's early representative work, is the author's first systematic collection of essays on Confucianism, focusing on the self-cultivation aspect of Confucianism. The author discusses the core concern and central value of Confucianism from three dimensions: classical Confucianism, Song and Ming Confucianism and modern Confucianism.
In the section of classical Confucianism, the author demonstrates that the process of learning to become an adult is a continuous process of self-transformation. In the section of Confucianism of Song and Ming dynasties, the author further explores the "inner situation" of the life style of the Confucianists of Song and Ming Dynasties, and shows that the central position of personal growth is all-encompassing in the thinking mode of Confucianism of Song and Ming Dynasties. In the part of modern Confucianism, the author interprets the transformation of modern Confucianism and demonstrates how a long tradition of thought has been continuously carried forward, thus forming a new symbol and substance.
