How can imagination be history?
To enter the world that has passed, historians cannot rely only on methods and theories, but also need bold imagination.
The book has four purposes: first, to show how the past exists as an undercurrent in the present; Second, the role of the media should be analyzed through individual cases. Third, I use the writing process of this book to show the historical dimension of media studies; Fourth, build on these discussions to explore macro history and other humanities fields related to history.
About the author
Robert Darnton is a fellow of the American Academy of Arts and Sciences, a fellow of the Philosophical Society, and the Carl Forzheimer Chair Professor and Librarian Emeritus at Harvard University. Darnton is one of the foremost experts on French history in the English-speaking world and a leading figure in the history of culture and reading. He and his books have received numerous academic and book awards, including a MacArthur Fellowship in the United States, a National Book Critics Circle Award in the United States, and a nomination for the French Medici Award.
