这是一部探讨莎士比亚在欧洲经典化形成与文化史研究的学术著作。
向来，中国有“道不尽的红楼梦”，西方有“说不尽的莎士比亚”，对莎士比亚的研究早已成为一门显学。中国对莎士比亚研究的相关著述较多，但该书并非对莎士比亚著作的文本解读或进行文学批评的研究，而是依据大量文献史料，对莎士比亚于17—18世纪的两百年间如何一步步成为西方文化符号做了有力的论证，这样的早期莎士比亚文化史的学术著作不多。
全书对考察莎士比亚如何成为“莎士比亚”的研究，不仅涉及17—18世纪戏剧舞台史和演出史、编辑史、新闻史、审查制度史等传统史学考证，还涉及两百年间欧洲的经济、政治、意识形态等其他人文领域，这些最终造就了“莎翁”的诞生。
辛雅敏，文学博士、博士后，现为郑州大学文学院副教授，博士生导师，郑州大学英美文学研究中心研究员，研究方向为莎士比亚与西方文学理论，已出版《二十世纪莎评简史》《莎士比亚与古典文学传统》等专著，主持国家社科基金项目两项，发表学术论文二十余篇。

This is an academic work on the formation of Shakespeare's classics in Europe and the study of cultural history.
There has always been a "dream of the Red Chamber with endless ways" in China and an "inexhaustible Shakespeare" in the West, and the study of Shakespeare has long been a prominent subject. There are many relevant works on Shakespeare in China, but this book is not a textual interpretation of Shakespeare's works or a study of literary criticism, but based on a large number of historical documents, a powerful demonstration of how Shakespeare gradually became a symbol of Western culture in the two hundred years from the 17th to the 18th century, such early academic works on Shakespeare's cultural history are few.
The study of how Shakespeare became "Shakespeare" in this book not only involves traditional historical research such as theatrical stage history and performance history, editing history, journalism history, and censorship history in the 17th-18th century, but also involves the economic, political, ideological and other humanities fields in Europe in the past two hundred years, which ultimately created the birth of "Shakespeare".
Xin Yamin, Ph.D., postdoctoral fellow, is now an associate professor and doctoral supervisor at the School of Literature, Zhengzhou University, and a researcher at the Research Center of American and American Literature, Zhengzhou University. Her research direction is Shakespeare and Western literary theory. She has published monographs such as "A Brief History of Shakespearean Criticism in the 20th Century" and "Shakespeare and Classical Literary Tradition".
