《加利西亚》内容简介

　　加利西亚(Galici英,Galicja波)是在1772年“D一次瓜分波兰”的特殊乃史节点上哈布斯堡当局所创立的一个新省级行政区，坐落于今天的波兰东南部和乌克兰西部的交界处，在不同时期揽括了包括很多重要城市。这里汇聚了波兰人、德意志/奥地利人、卢森尼亚/乌克兰人、阿什肯纳兹犹太人、高地人以及其他少数民族。从1772年被创建到1918年一战结束哈布斯堡覆灭，加利西亚这个现已灭亡的地理政治实体走过了近150年的历史沧桑和风风雨雨。

　　拉里•沃尔夫(LarryWolff)，1957年生，美国文理科学院院士(1997年当选)，纽约大学教授，杰出的欧洲思想文化史专家，东欧史学科带头人。1979年毕业于哈佛大学，1984年获得斯坦福大学历史系博士学位，师从美国有名东欧史学者WayneVucinich(1913-2005)。毕业后曾任教于波士顿学院(1986-2006)，现为纽约大学银色教授(殊荣)，历史系正教授，兼任纽约大学弗洛伦萨校区负责人，欧洲与地中海研究中心原主任。研究方向集中于18-20世纪中东欧思想文化史。

　　

Introduction to the content of Galicia

Galici (Galicjabo) was a new provincial district created by the Habsburg authorities at a special historical juncture in 1772 in the "One time Partition of Poland", located on the border of present-day southeastern Poland and western Ukraine, and at various times included many important cities. There were Poles, Germans/Austrians, Lusenians/Ukrainians, Ashkenazi Jews, Highlanders, and other ethnic minorities. From its creation in 1772 to the fall of the Habsburgs at the end of World War I in 1918, Galicia, a now-defunct geopolitical entity, has gone through nearly 150 years of historical vicissitudes and ups and downs.

Professor Wolff tells the history of the construction of the "Galicia" as a new concept of geography, nationality, culture, identity, imagination and ideological inheritance. From nothing to nothing, from something to nothing, from grief to belonging, from enthusiasm to obsession, from fantasy to extinction, Galicia has borne the lives and memories of generations of men, women and children. People who belong to different nationalities, religions and customs are temporarily integrated and bound by the identity of "Galicia" and "Galician" because of their historical circumstances, which constitutes a kind of Andersonian "imaginary community".

Through a series of examples and literary and artistic historical materials, the author shows how Galicia evolved from a political idea into a physical existence. In this process, the identity of Galicia is being filled, shaped, modified, and stratified little by little. Austrian bureaucrats, Polish politicians, Jewish intellectuals, Ukrainian patriotic Democrats, as well as various writers and artists are consciously or unconsciously doing their own injection and interpretation of this concept of identity. But no matter which Angle you look at it, there is no denying that the Galician construct really existed, in memory, in history and, perhaps, in fantasy.

About the author

LarryWolff (born 1957, American Academy of Arts and Sciences member (elected 1997), professor at New York University, outstanding European intellectual and cultural history expert, East European history discipline leader. He graduated from Harvard University in 1979 and received his PhD in history from Stanford University in 1984, where he studied under the famous American historian of Eastern Europe, Wayner Ucinich (1913-2005). After graduation, he taught at Boston College (1986-2006) and is now Silver Professor (Honoris causa) and full Professor of History at New York University, where he is also director of the Florence Campus and former director of the Center for European and Mediterranean Studies. His research focuses on the ideological and cultural history of Central and Eastern Europe in the 18th to 20th centuries.
