作者简介
约翰·斯卡尔齐（John Scalzi），1969年5月10日出生，毕业于芝加哥大学，现居俄亥俄州。最初给地方性报纸写影评，后来渐渐成为一名幽默作家，曾任美国科幻与奇幻作家协会主席。
2005年，他以《来自12星球的敌人》一举成名，入围该年度雨果奖最佳长篇小说，并凭借此书获得2006年度约翰•W.坎贝尔奖最佳新人奖。随后出版的一系列科幻小说，都毫无例外地登上各大畅销书排行榜，13次提名雨果奖。2013年，《星际迷航：红衫》获得了雨果奖最佳长篇小说、轨迹奖最佳科幻小说等，几乎包揽年度所有科幻重要奖项。短篇作品《三个机器人对人类时期遗留物品的初体验》《当酸奶统治世界》被改编为《爱，死亡和机器人》剧集。

What's it like delivering food on Monster Earth?
I, a former science fiction researcher who was about to start a career at a food startup, accidentally lost my job and became a food delivery man. At the critical moment when this job was about to be lost, an old acquaintance who often ordered takeout offered me an olive branch: to an animal protection base to do my old job - shipping goods. However, this old acquaintance did not tell me that the so-called base is not on the Earth at all, at least not the earth we have been living on!
When I came to a lush Greenland, I felt a sense of foreboding when I saw strange creatures the size of small hills, with their own ecosystems, roaming a landscape untouched by humans.
About the author
John Scalzi (born May 10, 1969) is a graduate of the University of Chicago and currently lives in Ohio. After writing film reviews for local newspapers, he became a humorist and was president of the Science Fiction and Fantasy Writers of America.
He shot to fame in 2005 with Enemies from 12 Planets, which was shortlisted for the Hugo Award for Best Novel of the year and won the 2006 John W. Campbell Award for best new artist. The subsequent series of science fiction novels, without exception, appeared on the major bestseller lists and were nominated for Hugo Awards 13 times. In 2013, Star Trek: Red Shirt won the Hugo Award for Best novel and the Trajectory Award for Best science Fiction, almost sweeping all the major science fiction awards of the year. The short works "Three droids' First Experience with Artifacts left over from the time of Man" and "When Yogurt Ruled the World" were adapted into an episode of Love, Death and Robots.
Monsters for the Protection Society is his new book published in 2022, and immediately entered the New York Times bestseller list, nominated for the 2022 Goodreads Ten Best science fiction, won the 2023 Trajectory Award for Best science fiction, and was shortlisted for the 2023 Hugo Award for Best Fiction.
