陷入人生低谷的多琳，带着襁褓中的儿子寄居于妇女收容所，贫困、失业、孤立……一连串的失败让她决定开启一段非同寻常的冒险，寻找人生的方向：一路北上，从墨西哥的潟湖到北极的冰川，她带着儿子跟随哺育幼崽、躲避虎鲸攻击的灰鲸母亲完成了哺乳动物距离最长的大迁徙。

多琳·坎宁安（Doreen Cunningham）
英国记者、作家。曾在英国自然环境研究理事会从事气候研究，后转行从事新闻工作，专攻气候议题，为BBC做了20年的专题主持、编辑和报道。曾赴阿拉斯加北极、阿塞拜疆、阿根廷、智利、东欧、格陵兰、冰岛和中东进行报道。2006年与因纽皮雅特人捕鲸者一起参加了当地捕鲸活动，记录当地人对气候变化的看法。

Doreen, who falls into the trough of life, sojourns with her infant son in a women's shelter, poor, unemployed, isolated... A series of failures leads her to embark on an extraordinary adventure to find her direction in life: from the lagoons of Mexico to the glaciers of the Arctic, she and her son follow the longest mass migration of any mammal, from the mother of a grey whale, who is nursing her young and fleeing from orca attacks.
Along the way, Doreen found the courage and resilience to face the changes in life, overcome self-condemnation, tolerance of their own timidity and hesitation, and regain a new life. She is accompanied by an indomitable whale, rediscovering her faith in freedom, love and connection.

About the author
By Doreen Cunningham
British journalist and writer. After working on climate research at the Natural Environment Research Council in the UK, he switched to journalism, specialising in climate issues and presenting, editing and reporting for the BBC for 20 years. He has reported from the Alaskan Arctic, Azerbaijan, Argentina, Chile, Eastern Europe, Greenland, Iceland and the Middle East. Participated in a local whaling event with Inupiat whalers in 2006 to document local views on climate change.
