　　《历代名画记》全书十卷：前三卷共十五篇，具有总论性质，主要内容为画学和画论，对中国古代绘画的历史、理论、名作、技法、装裱、画具和鉴赏等方面，进行了分门别类的论述。后七卷所占篇幅较大，按时代顺序列画家小传。纵观全书，《历代名画记》几乎涵盖了古代绘画艺术在当时所涉及的方方面面，叙源流、论技法、谈师承关系的渊源、书画收藏装裱的知识、记录各地寺观壁画、著录历代的珍图秘画等等，还有采用夹叙夹议的评论方式介绍各时期画家的经历、风格及其作品，既有引用前人评论，又融合个人独到的见解，为读者呈现了一幅更加丰富、立体的艺术发展图景。

　　唐代书画家兼鉴赏家张彦远所著得《历代名画记》，是一部比较完备研究画史的论著，具有贯通古今的绘画通史性质，同时也阐发作者的观点和褒贬意见，具有史学家客观公正的学术意识，被后世学者称为“画史之有是书，犹之正史之有《史记》”。因其内容丰富、体例完备、版本众多而备受后代的重视。历代的研究者对其评价颇高，尤其宋代以后，与《历代名画记》相关的重要著录逐渐增多，到了近现代关注度更高。在今天的美术教学和研究中，《历代名画记》仍是一本非常重要的经典著作。

　　作者简介

　　张彦远字爱宾，蒲州猗氏（今山西临猗）人，约活动于815—879年间。他出生于“三相张家”，家藏丰富。自幼在艺术氛围的熏陶下成长，他在积极参与家族购买收藏书画作品的同时，认真研读了前人撰写的绘画法书论著，而孕育有《历代名画记》《法书要录》两部专著传世。

　　尚莲霞历史学博士、中国美术家协会会员(理论研究)，南京大学艺术学院副教授，硕士生导师，从事美术史论研究。主持国家社科基金项目、国家艺术基金、江苏省社科基金项目等多项。发表论文、评论报导五十余篇，专著、译著及合著多本。曾荣获“江苏省第十七届哲学社会科学优秀成果奖”一等奖、第二届“江苏紫金文艺评论奖”一等奖等。

　　尚荣哲学博士，南京大学艺术学院、哲学系教授，中国哲学方向博士生导师。一直从事禅宗典籍、汉传佛教艺术、宋明理学诗歌美学以及中国古代雕塑艺术研究，并兼善禅意书画与雕塑实践创作。独立承担国家社科基金艺术学项目，为国家重大社科项目子课题负责人，出版专著、编著、译注近二十本，发表论文、评论近六十余篇，实践作品曾获全国美展铜奖，并被中国美术馆及国内外专业机构收藏。

Content introduction

Ten volumes: The first three volumes total 15, with a general nature, the main content of painting and painting theory, the history of ancient Chinese painting, theory, famous works, techniques, mounting, painting tools and appreciation, etc., are discussed in different categories. The last seven volumes account for a larger space and list the artist's biography in order of The Times. Throughout the book, "Famous Paintings of the Past Dynasties" almost covers all aspects of ancient painting art at that time, describing the origin, discussing the techniques, talking about the origin of the relationship between teachers and students, the knowledge of painting and calligraphy collection and mounting, recording the frescoes of temples around the world, describing the secret paintings of the past dynasties, etc., and introducing the experience, style and works of artists in various periods by means of narration and discussion comments. It not only quotes previous comments, but also integrates personal unique opinions, presenting a more abundant and three-dimensional picture of artistic development for readers.

The Famous Paintings of the Past Dynasties written by Zhang Yanyuan, a calligrapher and connoisseur in the Tang Dynasty, is a relatively complete study of the history of painting, which has the nature of the general history of painting through the ancient and modern times, and also explains the author's viewpoints and comments and criticisms, with the objective and fair academic consciousness of historians, and is called "the history of painting is a book, and the history of Shiji" by later scholars. Due to its rich content, complete style and numerous versions, it has attracted much attention from future generations. About the author

Zhang Yanyuan, styled Aibin, was a member of the Yi family of Puzhou (present-day Linyi in Shanxi Province), active about 815-879. He was born in the "three phase Zhang family" and his family is rich in collections. Growing up under the influence of the artistic atmosphere since childhood, he actively participated in the family's purchase and collection of calligraphy and painting works at the same time, carefully studied the painting calligraphy books written by predecessors, and gave birth to two monographs, "Famous Paintings in the Past Dynasties" and "The Book of Calligraphy".

Shang Lianxia, Doctor of History, member of China Artists Association (theoretical research), associate professor and master tutor of School of Art, Nanjing University, engaged in research of art history theory. He has presided over a number of national Social Science Fund projects, National Art Fund, Social Science Fund projects of Jiangsu Province, etc. He has published more than 50 papers, reviews and reports, monographs, translations and co-authored several books. He has won the first prize of the 17th Jiangsu Provincial Philosophy and Social Science Outstanding Achievement Award and the first prize of the second Jiangsu Zijin Literature and Art Review Award.

Shang Rong Ph.D., Professor of Philosophy, School of Art, Nanjing University, Doctoral supervisor of Chinese Philosophy. He has been engaged in Zen classics, Chinese Buddhist art, Song and Ming theory poetry aesthetics and ancient Chinese sculpture art research, and is good at Zen calligraphy, painting and sculpture practice. He independently undertakes art projects of the National Social Science Foundation, and is the leader of sub-projects of major national social science projects. He has published nearly 20 monographs, edited and translated books, published more than 60 papers and comments, and his practical works have won the bronze Award of National Art exhibitions, and have been collected by Chinese art museums and professional institutions at home and abroad.
