本书收录莫言创作的影视文学剧作，包括独立创作的《英雄浪漫曲》《英雄·美人·骏马》和《姑奶奶披红绸》，与刘毅然合作的《大水》以及与刘震云合作的《哥哥们的青春往事》。其中，《英雄·美人·骏马》重述楚汉争霸的历史故事，赋予项羽、虞姬、刘邦等饱满鲜活的人物性格；《姑奶奶披红绸》描绘民国时期一个有胆有识的女子从名门闺秀到土匪侠盗的悲壮传奇；《英雄浪漫曲》则书写八十年代自卫反击战中的一名断臂英雄复员还乡后，面对日常平凡生活的复杂人生。
莫言，山东高密人，2012年因“将迷幻现实主义与民间故事、历史以及当代社会现实相融合”获诺贝尔文学奖，成为中国首位获得这项世界级大奖的作家。
著有《红高粱家族》《天堂蒜薹之歌》《酒国》《丰乳肥臀》《檀香刑》《四十一炮》《生死疲劳》《蛙》等长篇小说十一部，《透明的红萝卜》《白狗秋千架》《师傅越来越幽默》等中短篇小说一百余部，并著有剧作、散文多部；作品被译为英、法、德、意、日、西、俄、韩、荷兰、瑞典、挪威、波兰、阿拉伯、越南等四十余种语言，在世界文学中产生广泛影响。

Mo Yan, a native of Gaomi, Shandong province, won the Nobel Prize in Literature in 2012 for "blending psychedelic realism with folk tales, history, and contemporary social reality," becoming the first Chinese writer to win the world-class prize.
