The author was teaching at a university when he came across a piece of information that surprised him: more than 50 percent of millionaires don't live in high-end neighborhoods, just next door to the average person. What is the millionaire next door really like? He began his research, and it took him 16 years to write his book, interviewing more than 14,000 self-made rich people.

Thomas Stanley, Professor in the Department of Marketing at the State University of New York and PhD in Business Administration at the University of Georgia, has studied wealth accumulation and management for more than 40 years and is an expert in the field of world wealth research, represented as The Millionaire Next Door.
William Danko, former chairman of the Marketing Department at the State University of New York, has long conducted research on social wealth with Thomas Stanley.
