别人难以模仿、难以企及的作品，对他来说只是兴趣。
1963年3月26日出生于北海道小樽。
1994年：在工作之余写下处女作《姑获鸟之夏》，为推理文坛带来极大的冲击。
1996年：出版百鬼夜行系列之二《魍魉之匣》，就拿下第四十九届日本推理作家协会奖，之后陆续推出《狂骨之梦》《铁鼠之槛》等十余部系列作品。
1997年：时代小说《嗤笑伊右卫门》获第二十五届泉镜花文学奖。
2003年：时代小说《偷窥者小平次》获第十六届山本周五郎奖；怪奇时代小说《后巷说百物语》获第一百三十届直木奖。
2011年：怪奇时代小说《西巷说百物语》获第二十四届柴田炼三郎奖。

He was born on 26 March 1963 in Otaru, Hokkaido.
1994: In his spare time, he wrote his first novel "The Summer of a Bird", which brought great impact to the field of reasoning literature.
1996: Published the second part of the series of Ghosts Walking at Night, "The Box of Demons", and won the 49th Prize of the Japanese Mystery Writers Association. After that, more than ten series works such as "Dream of Crazy Bones" and "The Sill of the Iron Mouse" were successively released.
1997: The period novel "Laughing at Izuemon" won the 25th Izumi Jinghua Literature Prize.
2003: The time novel "The Peeping Tom" won the 16th Yamashiro Award; Strange period novel "Back Alley Say a Hundred Things" won the 130th Naoki Award.
2011: The Strange period novel "West Lane Says a Hundred Things" won the 24th Shibata Renzaburo Award.
The novel series of Ghosts and Nightcrawls has distinct characters, wonderful layout, complex structure, and overwhelming charm of writing with a light weight. The books are popular with the public right after publication, and the readership covers all ages and industries. The series has been running since 1994 and has become a landmark classic.
