作者简介

奇玛曼达·恩戈兹·阿迪契，1977年出生于尼日利亚南部城市埃努古，起初在尼日利亚大学学习医药学，后在美国东康涅狄格州立大学学习传媒学和政治学，之后在又约翰·霍普金斯大学获得创意写作的文学硕士学位。

Half a Yellow Sun is a lament written by Nigerian writer Adichie for the Nigerian Civil War of the 1960s (1967-1970). The epic structure of the novel, through the transformation of several ordinary men and women in the Nigerian civil war, interrogates how the sturdy concepts of identity, national borders, love and friendship survive in the face of absurd and brutal war.

13 years old Ugu family poor, to Nsuka University professor Odenibo house as a servant, the master gave him the opportunity to learn let him gradually get rid of ignorance and superstition; Olana, the daughter of the chief of the Igbo nationality, is the girlfriend of Odenibo. Her family has a prominent voice and wealth before the civil War. Olana, who advocates freedom, keeps a distance from her snobbish and speculative family. Olana's twin sister, Kenene, who has always looked after the family business, develops a love affair with Richard, a British journalist living in Nigeria, who abhors the hypocrisy of post-colonialism and tries to document the country's experience fairly and objectively.

The fates of the protagonists suddenly change and their loyalty to self, friendship and love is put to the test when a brutal war breaks out and the curse of post-colonialism drives northern and southern Nigeria to a fratricidal end.

About the author

Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie was born in 1977 in the southern Nigerian city of Enugu. She studied medicine at the University of Nigeria, media studies and political science at Eastern Connecticut State University, and then received a Master of Arts in Creative Writing from Johns Hopkins University.

In 2003, her first full-length novel, Purple Hibiscus, was nominated for the 2004 Orange Prize for Fiction, a novel about political unrest in 1990s Nigeria and the tragedy of a family gripped by faith, which won the 2005 Commonwealth Book Award for Best New Novel. Her second novel, Half a Yellow Sun, which explores the traumas of Nigeria's civil war, won the 2007 Orange Prize for Fiction. In 2009, her novel The Thing Around the Neck was nominated for the Frank O 'Connor International Short Story Award.

In 2010, Adichie was named one of the New Yorker's "Twenty Under Forty Novelists." In 2015, Time magazine named Adichie one of the "100 Most influential People in the world."

In 2014, her TED talk was assembled into a collection of essays of the same name, We Should All Be Feminists. Her most recent novel, "Yankee," which presents the author's thoughts and feelings on racial politics in the United States, won the 2013 National Society of Book Reviewers Award for fiction.
