　　《摩尔后宫》是王南“建筑史诗”系列的第十二本，也是第二卷的收官之作，主题为公元七世纪至十五世纪的伊斯兰建筑，时间上与中国唐、宋、元时代颇相吻合。伊斯兰建筑分布地域辽阔，所涉地区横跨亚、非、欧三大洲，遍及十余国、数十座经典建筑，此前十一册中约呈平行发展的中西建筑史终于被东西贯通。

　　新兴的阿拉伯帝国如饥似渴地汲取被它征服的古老文明的文化成果，伊斯兰建筑亦是被阿拉伯人征服的民族悠久建筑传统的继承者。从全球建筑史的角度看，继承了古罗马、拜占庭与波斯等建筑传统的伊斯兰建筑，以其独特的拱形、几何图案和书法艺术，成就了辉煌灿烂的建筑杰作。这些建筑不仅在设计上别具一格，还在装饰艺术上达到巅峰。

　　整个伊斯兰建筑史，时间跨度漫长，地域分布宏阔。《摩尔后宫》便是以王朝更迭为经，建筑要素和共同特征为纬，编织出一幅绚烂夺目的伊斯兰建筑艺术图景。囊括沙特阿拉伯、以色列、叙利亚、伊拉克、埃及、突尼斯、伊朗及中亚（包括阿富汗、乌兹别克斯坦、土库曼斯坦）、西班牙等国家和地区的数十处伊斯兰建筑经典——从最重要的类型清真寺，到陵墓、经学院以及宫殿建筑——其诞生、成长并逐步走向黄金时代的历程，贯穿了阿拉伯帝国的伍麦叶王朝、阿拔斯王朝以及位于伊朗、中亚、埃及、北非及西班牙的诸王朝。

　　此本的写法，可以类比《拱尖天堂》，解构一座拥有清真寺建筑共同特征的“理想清真寺”的标准配置，展示其在不同地域天差地别的表现形式，如何演绎出变化万千、蔚为大观，这也正是伊斯兰建筑的魅力所在。全书以西班牙的阿尔罕布拉宫压轴，它所在的格拉纳达即西方人口中“摩尔人”在欧洲的最后一个据点。这座摩尔人的宫殿是本书主角之一，并且是其中最年轻的一位，却宛如欧洲伊斯兰建筑的落日余晖。

　　王南，2001年获清华大学建筑学院建筑学学士学位，2008年获清华大学建筑学院工学博士学位。现就职于故宫博物院故宫学研究所，并任《建筑史学刊》副主编。长期从事中国建筑历史与理论研究，著有《规矩方圆天地之和——中国古代都城、建筑群与单体建筑之构图比例研究》、《北京古建筑》、《古都北京》、《农禅寺：水月》（与袁牧合著）、《乌镇剧院：并蒂》（与袁牧合著）等，并发表相关研究论文。2013年起，由读库陆续出版“建筑史诗”系列。

"The Moorish Harem" is the twelfth book in Wang Nan's "Architectural Epic" series, and the final work of the second volume, the theme of Islamic architecture from the seventh to the fifteenth century AD, and the time is quite consistent with the Tang, Song and Yuan dynasties of China. Islamic architecture is distributed in a vast area, covering three continents, Asia, Africa and Europe, covering more than 10 countries and dozens of classic buildings, and the history of Chinese and Western architecture, which was about parallel development in the previous 11 volumes, has finally been connected.

The emerging Arab Empire eagerly absorbed the cultural fruits of the ancient civilizations it conquered, and Islamic architecture was also the inheritor of the long architectural traditions of the nations conquered by the Arabs. From the perspective of global architectural history, Islamic architecture, which inherited the architectural traditions of ancient Rome, Byzantium and Persia, has achieved brilliant architectural masterpieces with its unique arches, geometric patterns and calligraphy. These buildings are not only unique in design, but also reach the pinnacle of art deco.

The whole history of Islamic architecture has a long time span and wide geographical distribution. "Moorish Harem" is based on the changes of dynasties, architectural elements and common features as weaves, weaving a dazzling Islamic architectural art picture. Covering Saudi Arabia, Israel, Syria, Iraq, Egypt, Tunisia, Iran and Central Asia (including Afghanistan, Uzbekistan, Turkmenistan), Spain and other countries and regions, dozens of Islamic architectural classics - from the most important types of mosques, to mausoleums, schools and palace buildings - were born, grew and gradually advanced to the golden age. Throughout the Arab Empire were the Umayyad Dynasty, the Abbasid Dynasty, and other dynasties in Iran, Central Asia, Egypt, North Africa, and Spain.

The writing method of this book can be compared to the "Arch of Heaven", deconstructing the standard configuration of an "ideal mosque" with the common characteristics of mosque architecture, showing its different forms of expression in different regions, and how to deduce the ever-changing and magnificent view, which is also the charm of Islamic architecture. The book closes with the Alhambra Palace in Spain, located in Granada, the last European stronghold of the "Moors" as they are known in the West. This Moorish palace, one of the book's protagonists and one of its youngest, is a sunset of Islamic architecture in Europe.

About the author

Nan Wang received his Bachelor's degree in Architecture from the School of Architecture, Tsinghua University in 2001 and his Doctor's degree in Engineering from the School of Architecture, Tsinghua University in 2008. He now works at the Institute of Palace Museum and is the deputy editor of the Journal of Architectural History. He has been engaged in the research of Chinese architectural history and theory for a long time, and has published relevant research papers such as "The Sum of Rules, Square circles and Earth: A Study on the composition Proportion of Ancient Chinese Capitals, Architectural Groups and single Buildings", "Beijing Ancient Architecture", "Ancient Capital Beijing", "Nong Zen Temple: Water Moon" (co-authored with Yuan Mu), "Wuzhen Theater: Parallel Development" (co-authored with Yuan Mu), etc. Since 2013, the library has published the "Architectural Epic" series.
