作者简介
詹姆斯·伦肖（James Renshaw），古典文学学历背景，先后在多所大学教授古典文学。目前在英国教授古典文学，同时也是一名作家。伦肖是2017年“OCR古典文明和古代历史”丛书的作者及总编辑，该丛书原用于英国GCSE（英国普通初级中学）相关主题考试。
Content introduction
The book introduces six key aspects of ancient Roman society: history, religion, society, entertainment, Pompeii and Herculaneum, and also mentions the city of Rome, Roman politics, monetary values, clothing and calendar, time, etc.
Chapters 1 and 2 guide the reader through the major events in Roman history, from the founding of the city to the fall of the empire. Chapters 3 to 6 describe the Roman army, administrative divisions, religion, society, and entertainment. The last two chapters deal with two ancient cities destroyed by Vesuvius -- Pompeii and Herculaneum.
About the author
James Renshaw has a background in classics and has taught classics at several universities. He currently teaches classics in the UK and is also a writer. Renshaw is the author and editor in chief of the 2017 OCR series Classical Civilisations and Ancient History, which was originally used for GCSE exams on related topics.
