　　《华太平家传》为台湾文学家朱西甯的长篇小说遗作，也是其创作生涯最重磅的作品。全书原计划三百万字，作者倾其毕生功力，七易其稿，八度启笔，完成五十五万言后因病谢世，成为一未完成的交响史诗。全书共分三十五章，故事起自清光绪二十六年（一九〇〇年），遥想一段并不太平的“太平”盛世，以华氏一族百年家史为主轴，细述山东省乡下面临新与旧、中与西等时代冲撞时的种种风云变化。回到现代化的原点，家史与民族史交错叠合，个人的命运、爱情的失落、时代的动乱，《华太平家传》是一部未竟的世纪之书，亦是一曲古典与现代化交响的史诗。

　　朱西甯（1926—1998），台湾小说家，作家朱天文、朱天心之父。生于江苏宿迁，祖籍山东临朐。本名朱青海，杭州艺术专科学校肄业。一九四九年随军赴台，曾任《新文艺》月刊主编、黎明文化公司总编辑、中国文化大学中国文学系兼任教授。一生专注写作，以小说创作为主，兼及散文、评论。著有短篇小说集《狼》《铁浆》《破晓时分》《冶金者》《现在几点钟》《蛇》等；长篇小说《猫》《旱魃》《画梦记》《八二三注》《猎狐记》《华太平家传》；散文集《微言篇》《曲理篇》《日月长新花长生》等。

The Biography of Hua Taiping's Family is the last work of Zhu Xining, a writer of Taiwan. It is also the most important work in his creative career. The book was originally planned to be three million words, the author devoted his life's work, seven changes to his draft, eight starts his pen, and completes 550,000 words after his death due to illness, becoming an unfinished symphony epic. The book is divided into 35 chapters, the story starts from the twenty-sixth year of Guangxu in the Qing Dynasty (1900), thinking of a period of not peaceful "peaceful" prosperity, with the century-old family history of the Hua clan as the main axis, details the changes of the countryside in Shandong Province when the new and the old, the middle and the West and other times collide. Back to the origin of modernization, family history and national history overlapping, personal fate, the loss of love, the turmoil of The Times, "Hua Taiping Family Biography" is an unfinished book of the century, but also an epic of classical and modern symphony.

The author's language is highly chun, familiar and smooth, and the narration is not bored of fine, four times things, folk etiquette, common people's details, dialects, such as the original town long scroll slowly rolled out at the end of the Qing Dynasty and the beginning of the Republic of China, very local color and folk customs. Like a "Qingming River Map", with the scroll slowly developed, full of interesting scenes of the common people in the lines flowing smoothly. Zhu Xining (1926-1998) was a Taiwanese novelist and the father of writers Zhu Tianwen and Zhu Tianxin. Born in Suqian, Jiangsu Province, ancestral home in Linqu, Shandong Province. His real name is Zhu Qinghai. He graduated from Hangzhou Art College. In 1949, he went to Taiwan with the army and served as chief editor of the monthly magazine "New Literature", chief editor of Liming Culture Company, and adjunct professor of Chinese Literature Department of Chinese Culture University. He devoted his life to writing, mainly novels, essays and reviews. He is the author of short story collections such as "Wolf", "Iron Slurry", "The Breaking of Dawn", "The Metallurgist", "What Time is It" and "The Snake". Novels "Cat", "Drought", "Painting Dream", "Eight twenty-three Notes", "Fox Hunt", "Hua Taiping Family Biography"; Essays "Microwords", "Quli", "Sun and moon long new flowers long life" and so on.
