Content introduction
The Road in the Forest is one of the most important works of Heidegger, a famous German thinker in the 20th century. It has been regarded as a classic work of modern Western thought and is a must-read to enter Heidegger's thought. This book brings together six important essays written by the author in the 1930s and 1940s, covering almost all aspects of Heidegger's later thought. The most striking one is Heidegger's meditation on the nature of art and poetry around the question of "the truth of being", as well as his unique view of "existence history", that is, his general view of Western metaphysics and the history of Western civilization.
