　　卡洛斯·富恩特斯（Carlos Fuentes,1928--2012）

　　墨西哥国宝级作家，世界著名小说家、散文家。与加西亚·马尔克斯、巴尔加斯·略萨、胡利奥·科塔萨尔并称“拉丁美洲文学爆炸”四大主将。

　　富恩特斯生于墨西哥一个外交官家庭，祖籍德国。童年和青少年在美国、智利和阿根廷求学；大学期间，在国内攻读法律，长期供职外交界，曾于1975--1977年任墨西哥驻法国大使。

　　以处女作短篇小说集《戴面具的日子》为起点，富恩特斯一生共创作了六十余部作品。其作品视野广阔，涵盖历史、伊比利亚美洲、左派、墨西哥、政治、时间、排外等不同主题。主要作品有小说《最明净的地区》（1958）、《阿尔特米奥·克罗斯之死》（1962）、《换皮》（1967）、《我们的土地》（1975）、《老美国佬》（1985）、《鹰的王座》（2002）、《所有的家庭都幸福》（2006）；文学评论集《西班牙语美洲新小说》（1969）、《塞万提斯或阅读的批评》（1976）等。

　　曾获加列戈斯国际文学奖（1977）、塞万提斯文学奖（1987）、阿斯图里亚斯亲王文学奖（1994）、国际西班牙语文学创作奖（2012）。

　　2012年5月15日，富恩特斯病逝于墨西哥城。

Content introduction

In Cervantes or the Criticism of Reading, Fuentes offers an in-depth analysis and criticism of the literary representations in Don Quixote, both explicit and subtle. From reading the novel to reading the world, from the criticism of reading to the criticism of creation, Fuentes follows the thread of Cervantes to create more related paths: There is a multidimensional picture of the history, culture, religion and literature of a particular period in Spain, a deep reflection on the history of both conflict and integration between Spain and Spanish-speaking America, and a hidden aesthetic connection between Cervantes and Joyce that spans time and space. Through a more open "text construction technique", Fuentes made literature and history, philosophy, theology, painting, economics, linguistics interwoven with his wisdom and knowledge.

About the author:

Carlos Fuentes (1928-2012)

Mexican national treasure writer, world famous novelist, essayist. Together with Garcia Marquez, Vargas Llosa, and Julio Cortasar, they are known as the four major masters of the "Latin American literary explosion".

Fuentes was born in Mexico to a family of diplomats and was originally from Germany. Studied as a child and teenager in the United States, Chile and Argentina; At university, he studied law at home and served in the diplomatic service for a long time, serving as Mexico's ambassador to France from 1975 to 1977.

Starting with his debut short story collection "The Days of the Mask", Fuentes wrote more than 60 works in his life. His work spans a wide range of subjects, including history, Ibero-America, the left, Mexico, politics, time, and xenophobia. His major works include The Clearest District (1958), The Death of Artemio Cross (1962), The Skin Change (1967), Our Land (1975), The Old Yankee (1985), The Eagle's Throne (2002), and All the Families Are Happy (2006). Collections of literary reviews include The New Novel of the Americas in Spanish (1969) and Cervantes or Criticism of Reading (1976).

He has won the Gallegos International Prize for Literature (1977), the Cervantes Prize (1987), the Prince of Asturias Prize for Literature (1994), and the International Prize for the Creation of Spanish Literature (2012).

Fuentes died in Mexico City on May 15, 2012.
