Amos Oz is a Hebrew writer who was born in Jerusalem in 1939. As a teenager, he lived on an Israeli kibbutz and graduated from the Hebrew University of Jerusalem, where he majored in literature and philosophy. In 1965, he published his first collection of short stories, The Place Where the Jackals Howl, and so far has published 39 works, such as "Where to Go", "My Michael", "A Story of Love and Darkness" and other 14 novels, five collections of short stories and essays. In 1998, on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the establishment of Israel, Oz received the Israel National Prize; In 2005, he received the Goethe Prize for Culture. It has been translated into forty-two languages, including Arabic.
