This is a novel about Shanghai and China related to Shanghai, which is divided into four series.

There are scenes and characters of old Shanghai and new Shanghai, as well as the bones and blood, veins and secret paths of the soul of this city. The haunting lovers, the White Russian pianist who waits day after day on a park bench, the talented boy, the beautiful and magical rose garden, and the old Koehler who holds on to it in despair. Different blocks, different floors, different times, foreigners and locals, ancient people, modern people and young people, but by the old time and point to the future.

A completely different and incisive Shanghai in the history of literature.

An eternal light, from the beginning to the end, constitutes the unique Chinese narrative of Zhang Guangtian's novel series, as Pushkin said: "The past is good", and "the heart must always look to the future".

Multiple methodological narration, fiction and non-fiction are integrated, different scenes of a big stage are transformed, some strong characters are intertwined, and finally a major scene is presented. This book has a strong character color, but in the final analysis, it is written by people. The so-called thing, as the author wrote in the preface, "Those coming days, because of the heart toward the future, are always good." The people I describe in this book are all things I yearn for, for me, either come and go, or have been absent for a long time. His, hers, yours, and mine are not in the present, and it doesn't matter whose they are, they are not in the present, always looking forward to the future."
