Lou Drofinico was born in Malta and now lives in Victoria, Australia. He was educated in Australia and received his Bachelor's, Master's and Doctor's degrees in education. He has been engaged in primary education for many years and held various positions.
Her novels and short stories have explored the issue of migration among Maltese, in particular the migration of women, the trauma of migration, the long exile, and the growing love of the country to which she has moved. Her novels have won numerous awards in Australia and Malta.
Besides writing, Lou is passionate about organic farming and loves her garden where she grows a variety of flowers, fruits and vegetables. Lou has four children and seven grandchildren.
