Content introduction

The author shows us the creative process of 16 literary masters in the form of face-to-face interviews or with the help of detailed secondary materials. There are some moments of inspiration, blessed by the Muse, and some of literature's most difficult; There are not only literary ideas in the minds of writers, but also their unique creative habits and creative skills. The writing is plain and cordial.

--

Inspiration and writing are the two faces of literary creation. Using these two as clues, this book strives to show the literary creation process of 16 giants of Spanish and Portuguese literature in the 20th and 21st centuries.

For every writer, inspiration and writing take different forms. Through face-to-face interviews with writers, their family members and close friends, the author delves into their works, speeches, interview scripts and other written materials, vividly presenting the creative routine and literary ideas of these great writers.

The book presents a special moment for the writer of the Muse's arrival: Rafael Alberti wrote one of his most moving love poems, "Dove", in his radio studio on a lonely and sad night in exile in Paris; Jose Saramago was waiting for his food to arrive in a Lisbon restaurant one day when, as if hit by an arrow of inspiration, the story line of "The Blind Man" popped into his head; Borges would take a bath at home every morning, and while he was taking a bath, he would think and decide whether to write a story or a poem about the dream he had had the night before. Carlos Fuentes was writing when he suddenly felt the power of his late son emerge within him; Cortasar wrote Hopscotch almost entirely guided by his characters, oblivious to the passage of time; Pablo Neruda wrote the first poem in "The Passionate Thrower" while admiring the stars, because he was "struck by the sky"...
