作者简介
秀陶（1934—2020），本名郑秀陶，湖北鄂城人。秀陶中晚年居于美国洛杉矶，长年创作不断，20多年间的作品多在《新大陆》及台湾《现代诗》等处发表。他的散文诗隽永精妙、平中见奇，闪耀着知性的光辉，蔚成一家。著有诗集《死与美》《一杯热茶的工夫》《会飞的手》，世界散文诗选译《不死的章鱼》。

Xiu Tao, the famous American poet, the translator of Rilke's masterpiece The Best Rilke, and the late prose poet, is the only prose poetry collection published in China.
Xiutao's prose poems draw on the traditional logic and interest of Chinese poetry and the characteristics of philosophical speculation in Western poetry, and discover poetry and interest in daily life, and extract unique insights from them, giving readers the enjoyment of beauty and enlightenment of life. The style of his works is a combination of ancient and modern China and the world, learning from others and being a family of his own, infiltrating eastern philosophy and western secular life to achieve the unity of sensibility and understanding, with broad and profound bearing.
The world expressed in Xiutao's poems is no longer a rough, undigested world based on fixed responses. His world has been decomposed, reorganized and promoted, and gives people a new feeling, which is a new senseism poetry that has not appeared in the new poetry circle since the "May Fourth Movement", including the process of the poet's self-establishment.

About the author
Xiutao (1934-2020), born Zheng Xiutao, was born in Echeng, Hubei Province. Xiutao lived in Los Angeles in the late years of his life, and his works were published in the New World and Taiwan's Modern Poetry for more than 20 years. His prose poems are indelible and exquisite, and they shine with the brilliance of understanding. He is the author of poems "Death and Beauty", "Time for a Hot Cup of Tea", "Flying Hand", and "Immortal Octopus".
