本书是研究中国古代科举制度的史论著作。本书以唐代科举为基本内容，兼采宋、辽、金、元及明、清材料，以具体的史实，说明科举的创制和演进，它与官僚制的结合，以及科举官僚制度对于中国古代国家体制、政情国情、世态世风有何影响，中国古代士人在科场和官场有怎样的命运和心境，借以为科举时代的中国社会写照，为科举时代的中国社会写心。
作者简介
王炎平，四川大学历史文化学院教授，从事中国古代历史及文化教学工作。有学术专著《孔子之道》《牛李党争考论》，有学术论文集《治道与国运——以唐代政情为主》，与人合著（编）有《中国历史上的今天》《中国诗词曲艺术美学大百科》《中国科举制度研究》等。
This book is a historical treatise on the imperial examination system in ancient China. This book takes the imperial examination of the Tang Dynasty as the basic content, and collects materials from the Song, Liao, Jin, Yuan, Ming and Qing dynasties. With specific historical facts, it explains the creation and evolution of the imperial examination, its combination with the bureaucratic system, and the influence of the imperial examination bureaucratic system on the state system, political situation and world style in ancient China, as well as the fate and mood of the ancient Chinese scholars in the imperial and official circles. In this way, it is the portrayal of Chinese society in the imperial examination era and the heart of Chinese society in the imperial examination era.
About the author
Wang Yanping is a professor at the School of History and Culture of Sichuan University. He teaches ancient Chinese history and culture. There are academic monographs "The Way of Confucius", "The Debate between the Ox and the Li Party", academic essays "Governing the Way and the Nation's Fortunes - The Tang Dynasty Political Situation", and co-authored (edited) "Today in Chinese History", "Encyclopedia of Chinese Poetry and Music Art Aesthetics", "Research on China's Imperial Examination System" and so on.
